Decorating our new spaces or refreshing the ones we already have has become a trending topic since our reality changed. A great ally in this is adding live plants to our spaces, as they bring life and color and freshen the air. You don't need to be an expert gardener: just keep a few basic care tips in mind, give them love and gratitude, and they will reward you with intense green and harmony in any corner of your home.
If you want to place plants inside your apartment or house, whether in the living room, the dining room or a study, make sure they are near a window or facing the balcony door. That way they will receive natural light and be able to carry out photosynthesis. When buying them at the nursery, be very specific and describe the space where you will place your plants so they can suggest the species that will do best there; also ask about watering frequency and fertilizing so they stay lush.
Balconies and terraces are the ideal spaces for vertical gardens, using wooden structures that hang on the wall. There are also iron stands where you can place several small pots as corner pieces and plant your favorite cacti. Another, more avant-garde trend is large cement planters carved in the shape of faces, resembling busts, which can be customized with colors that match your spaces or left in the natural color of the cement.
For flower lovers, there are plastic planters that attach to balcony railings, letting you enjoy every stage of the plant's growth until the flowers bloom. Home vegetable gardens have become a big trend, and apartments with balconies or terraces are ideal places to grow tomatoes, chili peppers, oregano, ginger, mint, basil and other natural species that we later use in our cooking. Nature keeps gaining ground, and it is a call to protect and preserve plant species; we can start doing so with small actions without leaving home.
